An excellent contemporary imitation

Septimius Severus, 193-211. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 2.75 g, 5 h), a contemporary imitation, irregular mint, after circa 194/5. IMP CAE L SEP SEVR (sic!) PERT II Laureate head of Septimius Severus to right. Rev. MARS PACAIOR (sic!) Mars standing front, head left, holding branch in right hand and inverted spear in left. Cf. RIC 45 (for reverse). Good very fine.

The style of this coin appears to be official at first glance but the spelling errors mark it as an excellent contemporary imitation
